Remember New Coke? Coca-Cola thought they were onto a winner. The taste tests said so. But the public response? A resounding "no thanks."
Segway promised to revolutionize urban transportation. A technological marvel. Yet, most sidewalks remain Segway-free.
Why do we cling to these narratives?
They're reminders that solid data and innovation aren’t the only kings.
Contrary view: The next big leap isn't always about 'more' or 'new.' Sometimes, it's about looking inward, critically.
Let's pivot to Quibi. A billion-dollar streaming startup. High-quality content. Short durations. Failed in less than a year.
Why? They assumed mobile-first meant success. But user habits disagreed.
Innovation doesn't always equal adoption.
Let’s dive deeper. Rigorously questioning one's own assumptions isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s strength in disguise.
It's difficult. It's humbling.
But the alternative? Blindspots. Missed opportunities.
"Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won't come in." – Isaac Asimov
Can you let the light in?
Challenge every belief. Inspect every cornerstone. Reevaluate every strategy.
True leaders don't rest on laurels. They sculpt the next big thing.
In the business world, flexibility is more than agility. It's survival.
Can your perspective adapt to the shifting sands?
If it falters, take note. Rethink. Reframe. And, importantly, push forward.
Progress demands shattering your most treasured beliefs. Challenge your own assumptions mercilessly. Does your worldview hold up to scrutiny? If not, tear it down and rebuild.
